Recently i visited Bruge in Belgium and went on the brewery tour, both i can highly recommend. The lady guide said that the water used for their beer went through a filter plant as it was very hard. My water at home is classed as hard, so i thought about using Highland spring water which is on offer at tescos at 50p for 1.5ltrs at the moment. I only do beer kits a the moment, so my question is ...... Will my brew be noticeably better for the added cost of water or continue with tap water and use something else to improve it.
Thanks Colin

Re: Highland spring water
The mashing stage has already been done when you buy kits so I would advise that you don't waste money on bottled water, just treat your water with 1/2 a crushed campden tablet just before brewing to remove ant chlorine and you should get good results, the only time when you will need to go to the bother of treating your water further is if you decide to go AG.colingo wrote:Recently i visited Bruge in Belgium and went on the brewery tour, both i can highly recommend. Re: Highland spring water
Thanks cj,normally i wouldnt think of using bottled water. The kit im using the bottled water with cost me £5 and water at 50p for 1.5ltr so i thought its worth a try. I have not heard of treating the tap water with 1/2 a campden tablet before so will explore that. Colin
