Salifert - HCO3 or CaCO3?

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

Salifert - HCO3 or CaCO3?

I'm confused... you get your miliequivs out of Salifert, you multiply by 50 and you get your ppm... but is it as HCO3 or CaCO3? I've been using HC03 for 7 brews now but after checking out the THBF water treatment calculator I'm now suspecting this was wrong...

Multiply by:
50 for CaCO3;
30 for CO3;
61 for HCO3

That was just the information I was wanting to find yesterday having had the Salifert KH kit delivered.
Still it does give the result that there is bugger all CaCO3 in the water from the tap (very soft water from taps in the Manchester area).
