Water Report

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

Have you contacted your water supplier then post results on here, you need to look at the various elements that you need to enter into water calculator also buy alkalinity water test kit like Salifert kit, or get these guys do it for you for £18 http://www.murphyhomebrew.com/laborator ... at_27.html

^^^ this

Paying for a single analysis really only makes sense if your water doesn't vary much.

I test mine twice a year drops from 250 ppm to 240 ppm so I think one off would give you a good base to start water treatment.

Exactly, your water doesn't change much. But here's a water report for a Rotherham post code with Calcium varying from 34 to 98. Some parts of Bristol can get supplied from Sharpness (river/soft) or Mendips (very hard) depending on conditions. In these cases you might as well spend your £18 phoning a clairvoyant to see if your water on brew day is the same as it was X weeks/months ago, no matter how accurate that analysis was.

Its true then the saying "Its grim up north"
As water changes why not test and record every time you brew with a £5 kit.
