Water Low PH

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

Water Low PH

Post by barney » Fri Apr 05, 2013 11:17 am

Hi ,

My water is normally PH 7.5 - 7.7

I have a brew on and just ready to do the water, checked the PH and its 6.42

What could cause this? Normally the water is very soft with Alkalinity of 18-20 CaCo3

What are you using to measure it? Is it reliable?
Best wishes

Soft water is going to be more acidic than hard water surely. Carbonate neutralises acid. My water is soft and according to my water report is 6.16.
