Storing treated water

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

Storing treated water

Post by paz1 » Mon Feb 03, 2014 1:55 pm

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone stores water treated the Graham Wheeler way?
As the method itself takes a couple of hours, I was wondering if the treated water could be stored for about a week or 2 in the cube and then simply heated to the mashing in Temperature?
Thanks.

Depends what you're treating it with. Salts should be added to the grist, not the water. The only thing I would add directly to the mash water are acids to reduce alkalinty and campden tablets to de-chlorinate.
Best wishes
