Just read (skimmed) the latest experiment comparing water profiles by Brulosophy
I quite enjoy reading some of his blogs but to me this experiment of using a pale and malty profile on an Irish stout (which has little hop profile anyway) is perhaps flawed.
Basically people couldn't tell the difference between the profiles used for the stout. I think he would have been better trying the experiment on a hoppy pale ale and messing around with extreme differences in SO4 to Cl ratios.

It reads to me like they could tell the difference - 18 out of 29 people picked the different beer in a triangle test.
What wasn't consistent though was the preference for one profile over another.
But yeah, I agree it would be interesting to do the same experiment on a pale hoppy beer.
