Brewday 22/10/07 Hookey Street
OK, here goes: (Sorry, mods, I thought I had reduced the file size of the pictures in IrfanView - obviously not)
Doughing in - note, in this picture, the use of the first piece of new technical equipment: the plastic bag (brilliant idea but can't remember who suggested it on here):

Sparging. Note, if you will, the second piece of new equipment - the T-bar supporting the spinning sparge thingy made, cough, cough, by myself:

First runnings - a deep, dark brown:

The hot break. New piece of equipment no. 3 - a very fetching lilac insulation mat tied with a piece of string (well, it's better than prolix's bubble wrap
):

Adding the late hops and whirlfloc:

The US-05 says "Let me at it...":

Cooling. The fact that the top of the IC is visible shows how much I lost in the boil (it's normally submerged). Must have been the extra insulation:

And 24 hours later:

It looks lost in that big bin but there is 22 litres there.
So 3 litres less than planned but at the targeted gravity so efficiency wasn't as high as planned. I actually think that's more down to my increasing knowledge and ability to record more accurately. I was probably getting it way wrong before.
Now, that brew has just got to get itself ready for Xmas - I must be comotose before my mother-in-law rolls up.
