Lager Yeast

Post by StevieR » Tue Jan 08, 2008 10:09 am

Hi All,

I'm thinking of doing a lager kit and this time using a lager yeast......however my LHS does not stock any !!!!!

Anyone fancy a swap...a sachet of Gervin English Ale yeast for a lager yeast ? :D

If you can't do any temperature control of the fermentation (steady at around 10C) you may be better off sticking with the Gervin and doing it as an ale fermentation. It won't be a 'proper' lager but will probably taste better than a poorly controlled fermentation with a lager yeast.

One of the online homebrew shops will send you a few sachets at cost, I know Hop & Grape and The Hop Shop will, can't speak for the others. I would offer but I don't have any.

Steve - I've turned the radiator off in my spare room and it keeps a constant 13°C. Would that be cool enough for a lager yeast ?

Cheers Mysterio, I'll contact the Hop and Grape

thanks for all your help :D :D
