I was thinking of brewing this next week, Smoked porter

Shamelessly nicked from a song title, now what was its name

Here is a hint,We all came out to montreux, Frank zappa and the mothers………………

Maris otter 2.95 Kg (53%)
RauchMaltz 0.681 (13%)
Munich 0.454 (8.7%)
Brown malt 0.340 (6.6)
Crystal malt 55l 0.158 (3.1)
Crystal malt 105l 0.158 (3.1)
Chocolate malt 0.340 (6.6)
Black malt 0.113 (2.2)


Hops
Goldings 38g 60min
Fuggles 15g 30min

Looks like a nice recipe, keep us informed as to how it works out, I need to do another one soonish aswell.

What are you brewing as a follow up "Take your Porter to the Slaughter"? :lol:

As a through and through electronica fan it pains me to say that Deep Purple could knock out a tune if a tad formulaic / predictable :lol:

Brew this last night, with a slight increase with the RauchMaltz

23l, O.G. 1.059, efficiency 70%

actual 1.062

Maris otter 3.54kg (56.8%)
RauchMaltz 1kg (15.3%)
Munich 500g (6.6%)
Brown malt 500g (6.6%)
Crystal malt 55l 200g (3.1)
Crystal malt 105l 200g (3.1)
Chocolate malt 500g (6.6)
Black malt 150g (2.2)


Hops IBU's 33 approximately

Goldings 42g 60min
Fuggles 21 30min
Fuggles 21 1min
Goldings 21 1min



Yeast

Nottingham and a little slurry from WLP002

yea, this will be a lot less smoky that a classic Rauch beer, they use 50% Rauchmalt, where as this only uses 15%

Hopefully it will work well with the roaster malts and the brown malt,

Just check the gravity, down to 1.012-1.013, I will give it another week and then keg it.
