Priming for mexican cerveza

Post by aceuass » Thu Feb 07, 2008 2:42 am

Hi gang
Most mexican beers have a lime shoved in them,so I decided to bottle all mine instead of kegging and was wondering of giving a natural lime taste to the beer in the priming stage.
could I not use the zest of a few limes(not sure how many)add to some boiling water to get the oil out add my priming sugar and add to the secondary before bottling.
would the lime add any extra sugar? if so should I reduce the ratio of priming sugar.
Cheers

I've never understood lime and beer?

Lime's are great, Beer is even better but adding the two?

In the case of Mexican beer its to cover the taste and smell. I would think if you were making an authentic Mexican Cerveza you would want to leave the bottles out in the sunlight for half an hour before serving.

Good point-like it
The beer is a test run for the summer and when it gets 100 degrees over here everyone loves to grab a corona and put a lime in it(it is to hide the taste,as you can`t drink a corona without a lime)I thought why not try to add the lime taste in the beer than you can add a lime or not later.
Thanks for the ideas Daab.
Cheers
