Doing a brew at the mo OG 1044 -SG1009 mash eff 80% i am a bit concerned that the fermentation has been slow, Pitched the yeast on Tues at 20c using saf04 done a hydrom test at 7.00pm tonight and the SG is only at 1022 and the yeast activerty has gone really slow, was not as good as normal usually i get a good cake on top like cauliflower but not this time.

Sterilise a paddle and gently give the beer a swirl to get the yeast out of bed and remind them they've a job to do!

Checked it this morning after rousing last night, It is working slowly but it has fallen to 1014 overnight. Cheers

It would be ok at 1012 would it. As i use king kegs with about 5g of secondry golden syrup,Daab what yeast do you use or recommend. Cheers

daab. Been thinking about this yeast problem could it be anything to do with treating the water, Used 2 teaspoons of gypsum 1 teaspoon of citric acid in 25 litres. Cheers
