Returning to home brewing

Post by thesaintv12 » Sun Mar 23, 2008 8:41 pm

Hi all,

I am returning to home brewing after a 5 year break. When my kids were born I sold all of my equipment (silly I know) as there was no free time for bewing.

In those days I used to do the full mash, but I am now thinking of doing a few kits while I get back in practice and build up my equipment again.

My question is can I expect results from a kit anywhere near what I used to produce from my mashing? The only kit I have ever made was a cheap Boots Lager one years back. I was thin and tasteless.

Anyway, nice to find that in just five years the hobby seems to have found the internet and there is more info and fellow home brewers than ever before!

Welcome back to the fold! :D

You'll be amazed at how kits have progressed over the last few years - the decent ones will beat the old Boots lager kits hands down. All grain still has the edge, but it's now possible to brew a great pint with a good kit.

I'm sure the kit brewers here will give you some recommendations. :=P

Thanks for getting back to me.

I have just ordered some new equipment and a woodfordes kit. Can't wait to get started again!
