How long can I keep the remainder of a vacuum packed bag of hops in a tupperware container. I used 50g of 100g making a hop bag for my Crusader about 2 weeks ago , could I use the rest. Also which variety would anyone suggest for a nice addition to Milestone Black Pearl , or is it worth just making up the kit without tampering.
If you don't have a vacuum bag sealer, keep your hops in the vac pack supplied, squeeze out all the air, seal with a sandwich bag clippit or similar, then freeze or fridge. They'll keep for months, but are obviously fresher if used sooner. You can keep them in an airtight jar purged with CO2 too, but I've only ever had a few hundred grammes so I just clip 'em and keep 'em cold, seems to work okay in the short term.
Stealing a bin in the freezer for hops and yeast is a good plan too!

Agreed - wrap them, put them in a tupperware pot and keep them in the freezer and they will last quite a while.fivetide wrote:I just clip 'em and keep 'em cold, seems to work okay in the short term.

I don't dare steal another freezer bin, the mackerel for piking and rabbits from shooting already take up enough space and I think I'd be stretching my luck
