I'm no expert but you need to leave them somewhere warm (room temp) for about a week to prime, then into somewhere cooler to let them grow into drinkable beer. If you leave them too cold the yeasties will all go to sleep and not fizz up your beer.

I'm assuming that youngs lager kits have ale yeast rather than lager yeast.

i have the same kit brewed for 15 days and bottled 20th April so mine isn't really ready until 18th May.

Mine never dropped far enough in gravity so i have a weak lager (3.4 % i think). Chilled and tried the last bottle bottled (so the one with all that extra yeast etc and it had a pleasant fizz, tasted like a lager (not my area of expertise). I primed at 3 teaspoons of Muscovado p/2litre PET.

Think mine will be drinkable on the 18th and looking forward to a cold one. 4 weeks is the rest period that i try to allow, 1-2 weeks warm (because sometimes i forget they are in there) then 2-3 weeks cold.
