Is my bottled beer dead

Post by Frisp » Mon Jun 30, 2008 10:17 am

I bottled my coopers dark into PET bottles on Sunday,
Sterilised the heck out of everything and used 60g of dissolved sugar mixed in before bottling.
Placed the lot back in the airing cupboard.
I just had a look and it looks lifeless, Should I see some bubbling or do I just need to be patient.

This brewing lark is bad for my nerves Im behaving like an expectant father.... Im going bald with the worry....

I must stop fretting
No bubbles but the bottles are brick hard to the touch.
Thanks

Actually, I think bubbles would be a sign that the bottle is not sealed properly. That happened to one of my recent brews - one bottle was bubbling away. It was grolsch style one, so I opened it up, smeared some vaseline on the seal, resealed it and within 24 hours the bubbles had gone.

If your bottles are 'rock hard' then it sounds like secondary fermentation is complete. I should move the bottles somewhere cool so they can clear., and stop worrying think of all the fun you'll have when you start drinking them
