Ritchies Acid Test Kit

Post by Digby Swift » Wed Jul 23, 2008 9:57 pm

Hello all,
Was unsure whether to post this in equipment or here, so if any moderator wants to move it to the appropriate place just go ahead. I have a ritchies wine and beer acid test kit and thought I could use it for checking my mash pH, however the answer I get is in acidity of Sodium Hydroxide parts per thousand. Is it possible to work out the equivalent pH or can someone let me know a reasonable measurement in ppt to be getting in the mash tun.

I mainly wanted to check that my mash pH was in the right range as I have been having haze problems after primary fermentation and was just checking whether this could be the reason. This is on my first AG brew so am unsure as what this should look like at this stage and may be my paranoia, never looking at kit brews at this stage before due to it being in a king keg.

My thanks to all who reply

No I hadn't, seems all I need to know. I'll give that a try sometime this week.

Thanks
