Have I over primed?

Post by mattamyg » Thu Jul 31, 2008 10:59 am

Hi

I set about bottling last night, after washing, sanitising, draining the 40 bottles I was ready to prime etc.

The scales didn't work!!

So I dissolved 15 teaspoons of DME into 200ml of water,

I have no idea if this is the right amount or not?

I had 32 pints in the end, and it IPA, made to 20 ltrs instead of 23.

So guys, does the garage contain 32 very volatile pints?

The brew had been in the FV for 18 days, still the odd bubble but reasonably clear.

Thanks for any help, but I guess its too late now!

Also, I am about to gas up, force carbonate brewferm diablo in a corni, what pressure do I need to put in to force carbonate? and then what the ongoing presssure?

Thanks

Matt

I would usually prime at 1/2 tsp per pint bottle - you don't seem too far removed from that.

If in doubt, chill in the fridge for a couple ofg hours before opening.
