Why are all my brews getting stuck?

Not sure i'm quite ready for that - it scares me!? And i don't have the cash for the equipment. I've only made 3 kits.

Are most of the kits available made by Muntons?!

If you can make a pot of tea, you are quite capable of AG.
If cash is tight scour the Ads in your local paper,try boot sales and e-bay' also Jim's for when someone upgrades.
From what GW has posted it appears Muntons supply the malt concentrate for all UK made kits, but there are imported ones as well.

Surely it's harder than making a cup of tea - it looks harder from the posts and guides on here?

It is easy, but it wouldn't hurt to do a few more kits and use the time to read up the AG process until it's clear in your mind and build up the equipment required.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be flippant when using the tea-brewing analogy, just wanted to make the point that AG is not something to be scared of

Aren't Coopers Australian? And how about " Tom Caxton "?

Appears to me like Cuntons are doing a Micky Soft on us; Monopolising the market and then pissing down on us from a great hight. Attitude being that we take what ever crap they deign to throw at us, or get out of the game?

This is what I thought...... surely, 200 years ago when water wasn't sterile and people drank mostly ale, it MUST have been pretty easy to make, every farm would have made their own, of varying quality admitted, along with the bread, butter and cheese etc......

I'm sure you can make it as technical and as difficult as you like, but there must equally be easier methods, which maybe don't make quite such a perfect pint but still make a bloody good pint.
Not everyone can afford the proper kit, and have to make do with what's available in the kitchen.

I put an extract recipe in the Christmas Ale thread which seemed fairly straight forward, maybe requires a bit of tweeking, but is it feasible? Is an AG much harder?

I'm supping a Muntons IPA at the moment and it's bloody good.
I also have a Muntons Continental Pilsner brewing at the mo so I hope it doesn't go to ratsh!t.......

It's not that either of mine tasted bad, but they both stuck at around 1019 and needed a lot of work to get them down to 1016.

I've done a load of Munton's kits. Only one i didn't like was the Bock, which i think i didn't rinse out the VWP properly.

I've only ever heard of munton's two can kits with default yeast getting stuck.

Overall, i like the muntons tins.

I think it's a problem with the fermentables in the malt. All the single kit brews I do with BKE & ciders with apple juice are fine. The only problems I've had are with the 2 can premium kits getting stuck.

Maybe they don't really get stuck & this is the best you can get from them? Is it possible that we could add little sugar/light malt/bke at primary?

Brupaks Fixby Gold & Linthwaite Light for me are great brews & these are the ones that get "stuck". After 6 weeks in a keg or bottle they are great!

We have heard from Muntons, I remember the thread. Perhaps someone a bit cleverer at using "search" can trawl up that thread please.

Thats good then, but if Muntons supply all the extract does that not mean the future of Kit Homebrewing looks bleak, what if a lot of people are having problems?

There must be a common factor to cause the problem.....I just dont see what it is other than....water???
