have this in the boiler at the moment.

3.9 Kg Lager malt
0.28 Kg Flaked Barley
0.18 Kg Roasted Barley
0.18 Kg Choc malt (light)
0.18 Kg crystal
0.10 Kg special B
0.08 Kg light crystal

Special B and light crystal was bit of a clearing the stocks exercise.

Water treatment 11g CaCl and 4g NaCl

mash at 66C for 2 hrs (was taking the dogs for a walk)

60 mins 45 g of challenger (35 IBU)

Will be fermenting this with a 2L starter of WL023 :D

Im also looking to do a stout and was interested to see you used lager malt, what difference would that make.

The way i look at it a stout is all about the speciality malts as appose to say a pale ale where the base malt forms a large component of the overall flavour. Regardless if you use optic, MO, lager or what as the base malt it doesn't really matter as the subtle flavour of the base malt is lost amongst the strong speciality malts such as roast barley and choc malt.

The reason i used lager malt is that i have a big bag of it and only a small amount of MO left which i intend to use in a light ale where i will be able to taste it.
