Effigys Mild

Post by Piscator » Sun Nov 02, 2008 9:01 pm

I finally managed to get round to brewing the mild recipe supplied by Effigy today - sadly no pictures though as the camera is on the blink :(

This was a brewday for a few firsts for me:-
1) The first mild I have made :D
2) The first outing for my shiny new brewing spoon
3) The first use of my new sparging arm :D

Strike temperature of 66.5°C achieved - and I even managed to take my eldest son swimming for an hour while the mash was on
Sparging went well and I collected 23 litres at an OG of 1037.

Looking forward to trying this out as it smelled great while mashing.

Cheers
Steve

I've just checked the gravity on this, and am now at 1010 from 1037 so am looking at 3.6%.

Couldn't agree more.... It is dropping reasonably clear already and tastes absolutely fantastic, in fact apart from the carbontation level I would say it is ready to drink now

I am converted
