Hazy Bottles

Post by espressomanfishing » Mon Nov 03, 2008 4:15 pm

Bottled Muntons Smugglers IPA last week. kept in warm place for 6 days and they cleared beautifully, have since moved to garage and they have developed a light haze. I have moved 3 bottles back inside to see if its the cold thats doing it. Any ideas??? are they likely to clear????? Last time we bottled this kit the results were fantastic.

Help...???

I'm guessing your garage is pretty cold at the moment, in which case what you're seeing is a chill haze. This is nothing to worry about, as once the beer returns to normal serving temperature (10 -14C) the haze will disappear. Sometimes a chill haze will settle out if the bottles are kept very cold for a month or so, or sometimes not.

Thanks Jim,

You are right the garage is very cold just now.

The three bottles I took inside have cleared again completely so panic over I think, we wont be touching this brew until at least mid December so it will have had two and a half months bottle conditioning by that stage.
