Here's the sample I just mowed through. 1469 is truly a great yeast. It would be my house strain if available year round. I may put it on slant.
Totally kick ass aroma and flavor profile. Bitterness is there, but nice and rounded. Fills the mouth, and when you swallow really coats the back of the throat. Aroma is moderately fruity, with a definite Styrian signature.

That's it, I'm having one of mine, it's only been in the bottle 2 weeks.

Oh my god, it's fantastic. I tasted it when I bottled it and was, as always, a little disappointed. It now tastes like draft TTL but out of a bottle! And bottled TTL is normally a sad reflection of the draft (best pint of ale I ever had was TTL in the Crown Pasada in Newcastle).

I followed the Wheeler recipe posted on here to the letter, didn't add any very late or dry hops but the taste is perfect imo, my best brew ever.

Add to that I'm really pleased with how will my Shropshire Lad has turned out, that was awful when first bottled, its great now too! Winner :D

The esters it produces are very nice. It lets the hops shine too. My Best Bitter I brewed with it also a beauty. The Amarillo/Centennial combo works well. I really wish it was available at all times. I just can't say enough about this yeast.

Why you serve it in a Sam Smiths glass and why people love Sam Smiths is beyond me. I live a 40 minute drive from the Sam Smiths brewery and have only ever been into two Sam Smiths pubs. I can safely say that the beer they serve is without doubt the most horrid stuff I've ever tasted! Tetleys / Stones / John Smiths are all much of a muchness and ok for general drinking I guess, Sam Smiths on the other hand is just utterly awful! I'm sure it must be an acquired taste as it obviously has its fans and keeps going but it is something I NEVER want to try replicate!

Their bottled Pale Ale, Nut Brown Ale, Taddy Porter, Oatmeal Stout, Winter Welcome, are all world class. They used to brew Museum, which probably was one of Britain's best beers.

I personally love Sam Smiths Ales, yes they are different and I guess not always to everyone's taste but the Old Brewery Bitter, Pale Ale, Oatmeal Stout and even the Organic Lager are fantastic.

So much so that when I racked my TTL clone off the yeast slurry I dumped the wort for a Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout over the top, can't wait to try it!
