Brewlab yeast
As an FYI to other U.S. homebrewers following this thread, Brewlab can sell and ship to the U.S. Alison Hedley of Brewlab has been very responsive and helpful to me. I am currently working out some details with her, but expect to have this done soon and this is a very good opportunity for U.S. brewers of UK ales to try these different yeasts.
Special thanks and cheers to Horden Hillbilly for starting this thread and bringing Brewlab to my attention.

I'd like to add another very positive review of Brewlab.
I now have 5 gallons of bitter fermenting with the Somerset strain and have several more slopes for future use. I concur with the comments of Horden Hillbilly in his first post of this thread. The service from Alison Hedley and Dr. John Usher is also excellent.
Highly recommended!

Re: Brewlab yeast
I'm tempted to give one of these Brewlab strains a try but can't decide which one to go for. Any recommendations folks?
I like flavourful English strains and i I dont mind a touch of diacatyl.
HH - I know you've expermented with a few different yeasts, which have you found gives the best flavours?

Re: Brewlab yeast
I have the Thames Valley 2 its nice but a not very flocculated, does sound a bit bettersteve_flack wrote:The Standard Ale (Thames Valley 3) is very nice.

Interestingly TV3 wasn't very flocculant either. This is odd as a brewer I know that has used it in the past and then again recently said he thought it was less flocculant this time around. If TV3 was a bit better in this regard it would be my perfect yeast as I love the flavour.

How non-flocullant are we talking, is it better or worse than windsor for instance?
Re: Brewlab yeast
Not that bad. It does settle down in the bottle but it's a little loose. In the keg I used finings.
Re: Brewlab yeast
Is there going to be a run on TV3 like 1469 and WLP023 a bit before that?

Re: Brewlab yeast
Another TV3 fan here, it's the only Brewlab strain that I have used! Like the others have mentioned, there are more flocculant yeasts around (Wyeast 1028, Nottingham) but I have not found it to be a problem. As long as your bottles are not over primed, I find that it does not lift excessively when pouring it. As Steve Flack says, you could always use finings in a keg to help drag & hold it to the bottom of the keg.mysterio wrote:HH - I know you've expermented with a few different yeasts, which have you found gives the best flavours?
Re: Brewlab yeast
Is this yeast suitable for kit brewing?
I pass the Uni quite often so it would be handy if I could pop in!
I just wish Darwin were still brewing their Rolling Hitch though!
