CO2 injector for a 5 gallon keg

Post by cmason561 » Sat Jan 17, 2009 2:24 pm

I believe i need to buy a new cap with a valve for co2 injection for my 5 gallon keg i purchased the bog standard one with just a plastic cap not knowing any better at the time. Just wondered if anyone knows where they can be bought onlnie for a good price? Also are they all able to fit soda stream bottles on them or do i need to purchase a certain type?
Thanks in advance guys. Great forum.

You will need one of these:-

Can't answer your question regarding used a Sodastream bottle.

Most people use the Hambleton Bard Super S30 gas cylinder which you can buy for about £16-17 and then it's £4-5 for an exchange refill. You will need access to a HBS who supplies since Royal Mail, for safety reasons, won't allow through the post and you need to hand in the empty one before you can have a refill.

I'm might be mistaken about the soda stream bottles. Just something someone at work told me. Any idea where i'll get a Hambleton Bard Super 30? Thanks in advance.

The S30 valve is the type that most barrels have. They require an S30 cyilinder.

Sodastream bottles have a different screwthread but you can buy an adapter which fits the Sodastream bottle and allows it to be used on an S30 valve.

The adapters are about a tenner (www.leylandhomebrew.com/item817.htm) which seems like a lot for a little bit of metal
