Building a kettle

Hello
Just after some advice re the kettle (old purchased beer keg, with lid cut off) I m about to begin building! I have purchased 2 3kw burco heating elements to fit in my water sparger and one in my wort boiler. The water sparger is not the issue but I am wondering if I need to put some sort of filter over the heating element of my wort boiler!? Also can anyone suggest how they have linked their wort boiler up to their counterflow chiller as I can t seem to find a coupler or nipple in any DIY/Plumbing stores that will allow me to attach my 8mm counter flow chiller pipe to the wort boiler!

How are you connecting your CFC to the boiler - with hoses?

Yes, you'll need some kind of false bottom to keep the hops off the elements.

Thank you for that.... I m following advice I gained from the Berriman Family website on building the CFC. He doesn t actually suggest exactly how he connects it to the wort vessel but does show clearly how to attach to the water supply. I was thinking of just reducing the exit bore size of the pipe down to the 8mm required using a series of reducers... As far as the false bottm goes as I have to flatten the bottom of the keg a little to fit the burco element I was thinking of adapting a colander and placing it upside down in the bottom some how....
