hello all sad buggers with nothing better to do than be on a home brew forum on a sunday night.
ive been reading a lot lately on a number of different sites.
this second ferment thing interests me though. i was reading earlier that racking to a secondary vessel and leaving for a week or so
makes for a much better tasting beer when its bottled.
any opinions?
secondary ferment..
Re: secondary ferment..
Racking it off into another fv allows the beer to clear and takes it off the yeast cake at the same time preventing any off flavours while your waiting for it to clear. Ive never done it myself as i only have one FV an im not overly bothered if my beer is cloudy so long as it tastes ok an gets me drunk

Re: secondary ferment..
ah thats very true chris but i was hoping to benefit from the experience of more experienced and knowledgeable brewers.
and save wasting a week that me brew could be in the bottles conditioning.
