Bottles have the advantage of being smaller. You can take a few bottles to your mates house, no need to take the whole keg. Bottle sanitizing is more work, but I do the lot in the bath, with cheap supermarket bleach, 40p a bottle.
I do both, keg and bottle. Will bottle in the summer though.

Re: Keg Vs PET
I have a top tap keg and a bog standard budget keg. I actually pprefer my budget keg to be honest, never had any problems with it. I find the top tap a ball ache in all honest and constantly topping it up with co2 just to drink does my head in, but thats personal preference. If I had the choice now though I wouldnt have wasted £40 and wouldve bought a couple of bog standard kegs instead.
I also use bottles too for the reasons already said on other posts. They go in the fridge and are easier to take to your mates, dont have to mess around with any co2 whatsoever and best of all, theyre FREE !!
Your choice will depend on what your brewing too i guess. If yer a lager man or want a lot of fizz then probably best to whack it in a bottle until you make what appears to be the inevitable switch to the shiny shiny...............
bottling in summer coz it goes in the frdige easily mate !

Re: Keg Vs PET
I use Basic Kegs. If I want a Take Away, I just decant it into a 'family size' mineral water bottle and take that to my mates. I could equally do that and stick it in the fridge for the day, if I wanted it particularly cold.
To be honest, I'm not overly fussed about overly cold beer. Nor do I appreciate throat slicing fizz. BK's give me just about what I seek

Re: Keg Vs PET
Always Keg, unless its wine or TC of course, much more convenient, and I dont like cold beer at all, room temp for me is perfect.
Re: Keg Vs PET
PET bottles "bleed"; oxygen gets in and sends your beer stale and co2 gets out - over time of course. They're okay if you drink quick but not good for long term storage.
I don't know if my King Keg or Beer Sphere suffer the same problem but I don't think so. I use a mix of brown glass and kegs for my ale and PET bottles for my TC (which seems to evaporate as fast as I can make it).

I use a combination to suit. Mainly keg the AG and bottle the kits (makes sharing easier). But if the boys run low then bottle some bright from the keg ready for drinking. I do find that when the keg(s) are ready the consumption seems much higher though!marko wrote:Can anyone help, i am thinking of buying a keg and i wondered what were the Pros and Cons between plastic PET bottles and various Kegs.

Re: Keg Vs PET
Hello. Yes I'll bottle in the summer so I can refrigerate, not for long though, but a bit. Plus I generally go to more BBQ's in the summer, and bottles are easier to transport. Cheers. Personal preference really.

Thanks all, its good to hear peoples opinion, when one person replies to a thread you dont know why people havnt replied, is it because they are right or its a crap topic. So it is good to hear off lots of people their own preferences.
Mucho thanks
