FV1 - Geordie Yorkshire Bitter+Saaz+LSM+Safale04
FV2 - Geordie Yorkshire Bitter+Target+MSM+Brew Sugar+Demerara

I'm tempted to do my geordie lager next too:
Geordie Lager+Wheat Spraymalt+Light Spray Malt+Saaz+Safbrew WB06+Golden Syrup (still in planning though!)

I use the mild kit from Morrisons(when they have it in),it's alright by itself but adding a few spices makes a nice easy to drink winter/christmas ale.I'm trying a Geordie Scottish Export at the minute and have just finished a Coopers Old/Dark Ale which was very nice.
My first post so take it easy with me.

do the coopers with some medium spray malt (if your on a budget just use a packet, 500g, and use brewing sugar for the rest of the 500g) heard its as good as the fabled coopers stout. (10 days to go till paddys day and opening my five gallons!!!) i have never tried the Geordie Scottish Export whats it like, and more to the point, how could your improve it? what spices do you use to create your winter ale?

Heh, I have a "grotty student flat" story. When I was sharing a flat with two other guys at university, of course the cooker never got cleaned. The hob surface was black when we moved in. One day (to put off writing an essay) I started cleaning the cooker and lo and behold, it was actually light beige underneath all the crud!

Hi chopperswookie, got no idea what the Export will be like,never tried it before. I boiled ,then added a winemakers bag of mixed spices to the second ferment on the last Mild kit just to try it.The beer in the pressure barrel had just a hint of spices while the beer I bottled was a bit more like what I was after.Don't know if this was because the stuff in bottles was from the bottom of the fermenter or that it got longer to mature after being shoved to the back of the beer cabinet when all the stuff people bring at Xmas was put in. Thanks for the tip with the Coopers,what do you think that would do to the Export??

heres a pic of the enhanced bitter kit. really ruby in colour and has a real hoppy bitterness which i know will get better with age.



(and before anyone asks its my thumb in the way and for some reason the doctor got in the background, where's vossy when you need him!!!)

good brewing this morning - 60g of Saaz in the can, good stir, left for 15 mins, then i added a further 20g for about three mins for aroma.

You uploaded a .gif file, try a .jpg (unless the .gif is all you have and it was taken on a phone camera)

A .gif file is inherently crap looking for anything but fairly flat colours and only a limited amount, .jpg has a much larger colour pallet and shows photographic images off much better.
