Re: 28/02/09 Cascarillo Armadillo
I've just had a couple of crafty halves out of it for testing purposes so far. But it's crystal clear already and tastes great. It could almost pass as a very big, hoppy lager - certainly wouldn't scare off any lager drinkers.
I am saving this for the Easter Holidays, and will dry hop it with 25g each of Cascade and Amarillo a bit closer to the time, so it's absolutely tip top, but even without the dry hopping, it's a good 'un already. The lager malt gives a nice added crispness to it, and the Amarillo/Cascade combo is great. Lots of orange and grapefruit citrus flavour.
I think next time round, I'd change the yeast from Notingham to US-05 however as the Nottingham doesn't seem to add much flavour. It does clear fantastically well though....

nice
out of interest what are you using to contain the hops when dry hopping?

John, I just use disposable muslin bags from Hop & Grape (but you can get them from any LHBS) for 25p each. i suppose technically, they are reusable, but I just chuck them once I pull the hops out.Bionicmunky wrote:nice

Looks like a great recipe.
Cascade and Amarillo are two of my favorite hops. I made a brew with M.O., Crystal, Torrified and Vienna with Amarillo and it turned out one of my best brews.

Here's how this one's come out. Very nice indeed....
I chucked 20g of Amarillo in the keg a few days ago, and now the extra hoppiness is coming through beautifully. This beer won't live through the long weekend!
