GREASY TASTE

Post by trucker5774 » Thu Jun 11, 2009 10:03 am

Following a pub discussion, a guy was talking about homebrew lager having a greasy taste/feel in the mouth. I have a vague memory of this from stuff I made 20 years ago. Having just returned to brewing, I dont want to experience it again. Anyone else encountered this? Is it the kit, the ingredients or the method?

I must say, Chris,my local kebab shop does a top mixed special! This taste the guy was on about did ring a bell. Made me paranoid about my Coopers Mexican Cerveza which I have just tried. It's only been 2 weeks in the bottle and I started to convince myself it had that same greasy mouth feel he was on about. Rather like a glass with soap residue. It is carbonated but has no head whatsoever, still young, as I said.

I haven't in around 10 kits, all tasted fine, except one that had a rubbery taste, which I binned, and blamed on bad yeast. No greasy tastes.
