Done 2 kit brews this afternoon

Hi All

Was a little bored this afternoon so I thought I'd do 2 brews before they go past their date!

First was Munton's Mexican Cerveza Style Lager Beer. I did this with 500g of Beer kit enhancer and 500g of light hopped DME. I also used the supplied yeast and also a sachet of safale S23 lager Yeast. This is currently fermenting in Garage at 17C. OG was 1.042. Let's hope it turns out ok :)

Second was York Brewery Stonewall Bitter. I did this kit nearly as described but I didn't use the supplied 40g Hop pellets and changed the yeast. Instead I measured out 40g of Fuggles hops and steeped them for 15mins, then strained them and added the clear green liquid to the main wort. I also changed the supplied yeast for Safale S04 Dry Ale yeast. This is currently fermenting in the spare room at 22C. OG was 1.040. Again, hope it turns out ok :)

Here's hoping for 2 nice brews for the summer :D

Regards

Graham :)

Sorry, I haven't done any foto's this time, I was a little rushed as me and SWMBO just come back from Kenya and also the camera memory card is already crammed full of pics! :=P

Maybe pics next time, who knows It could be an AG brew :D

Well, the Mexican Cerveza is conditioning nicely. I had a sneaky tipple whilst transferring to bottles and Corny Keg and it tastes rather nice :D , though because of the DME it is more like a light ale and I assume this is also because of the original yeast which I assume would have been Ale yeast.

I had to tip away the Stonewall because it tasted vinegary and had an infection suspended in the wort! I was really carefull though and made sure everything was cleaned and sterilised, I'm gonna put this one down to the very hot weather we had early on in the fermenting period :o :?

I may pop into my LHBS today :D

Graham
