Too much water added

I mistakenly added 1.25 litres of water extra to my kit. The final gravity stopped at 1012, 6 points short of the target giving a final ABV of 3.5% instead of 5.2%. Are the two things related?

I doubt they're related in terms of cause and effect but they'll certainly have both had a bearing on the final strength of the brew. I think you high FG is the main problem.
