Hmmm...

My Coopers Pale Ale finished at about 1008 after 6 days... However I used 1KG BKE (50:50 LME & Dextrose)

So depending on what fermentables you used, you are about there... It wont hurt to leave it in the FV for 10-14 days before bottling... see how you get on...

it should drop another few points, if not you can see the thread on stalled fermentation...
:)
Good luck!

Thanks manx guy

It just basically sat at around 1.011 so i just went ahead and bottled it today.

What would be the consequences if i've bottled too early/during stuck fermentation?

I'll leave it in secondary (bottled) for a couple of weeks or so and see how it turns out. Of course i'll leave it to condition for a little longer afterwards.

Just hope it turns out OK.

I'll let you know.

This has turned out lovely! probably my best brew yet.

Need advice on a new brew though and thought i'd ask here, if i don't get a reply i'll make a new thread.

Just started a john bulls lager kit (shop had them on sale 2 for £10 so why not) added 1kg of brewing sugar and 200g of honey.

Will the honey come through in the lager? that's what i'm aiming for, or will it just ferment and add to the alcohol percentage?

I read somewhere else this would happen and if i wanted a slight honey flavour an option was to add some honey at the high krausen stage.

Should i leave it or should i add maybe another 100g honey after a couple of days assuming fermentation goes as planned?

Thanks for any advice as usual guys.

OG was 1.050

re hops - have a look at the Camra brew your own real ale book - very good section on hops, including bitterness table for many varieties - they also differ as to steeping at start, or dry hopping for aroma

Thanks Paul CAMRA is ringing a bell, i think someone suggested having a look at that on another board so i'll definitely have a look.

Anyone got anything on the adding honey Q? Airlock was bubbling vigorously last night when i checked it, would it hurt to add 100g of honey today and give it a stir?

Well i've just added the rest of the bottle of honey (340g bottle) so around 140g.

When i first added it nothing, i then added a little hot water to rinse the rest of the honey fromthe bottle, added this and it fizzed up like mad!

The head came to the top of the bin almost and i only went for the 32 pint batch, no airlock activity, hope i haven't messed it up. #-o

Anyway it's back in the cupboard at 21 degrees, just hoping and waiting to see the airlock bubble again :?

Just had a thought, as i said before i bought 2 kits.

If i don't see any airlock activity over today/tomorrow would it be worth just throwing in the sachet of yeast from the other kit and see if that gets it going again?

If i don't see any activity i'm snookered, don't really know what to do unless advised to put the other lot of yeast in.

Thanks for replies

Forget my last question, it's bubbling away nicely now :D

My only concern is that i won't get the ABV accurate as i've added a little more honey.

No matter, i know it's going to be a strong lager anyway. I'd guess between 6-7% but i'll find out roughly when it's done.
