Looks like I will save a few KG on my brewday tomorrow, was going to do a Brewers Gold Clown, but you know me always going Off-piste.

so this is what Im going to try.

1.5 kg. Maris Otter ( Extra Pale)
250 gms Crystal
250 gms Torrified Wheat
1 kg. Rice Flaked
1 kg. Corn Flaked
500 grams Pearl Barley
10 g. Nelson Sauvin 11.5 %AA 60 min
20 g. Brewers Gold 8.4 %AA 30 min
30 g. Brewers Gold 8.4%AA 15 min

Yeast : Safale US-05

Going to start at around 40 push it up to 50 then move along to 64.

20 ltrs final
15 mins at 40, 15 mins at 50, 30mins at 64, drop out to the Copper, add remaining in HLT to mash for 15mins, then raise to 75 about another 10 then drop to copper and boil for 60.

Dry Beer AHoy

Speak your mind. send me a comment.

This Brew is fab, my 1st use of US-05 but the Nelson and the Gold did help, but Hi 5 for the Corn Flakes,Rice and the Grains.

Again, I have not managed to complete the beer, I am on call this week and I'm 100% sure as soon as I start the telephone will ring, that said it almost looks after it self, I'll try Thursday as i'm pressing Elderberries with my father tomorrow evening.

PS: he has found me a few HOP bines when out picking, that should be a fun beer as My hops this year have not flowered( I moved them and devided them, so next year may be)

There's a misquoted Monty Python joke in there somewhere, just screaming to be let loose......

Good luck with the Bling-Smiff tomorrow! I think I'll try and get one on over the weekend - maybe a lager if my yeast turns up from BB tomorrow.

I have moved the brew into a Corni as it has dropped bright.
First tester:

Getting a fantastic clean white wine smell of the Nelson Sauvin poping through with a slight lime citrus sent.
No good at this tasting and describing , I would say a grainy dry but very drinkable even at its age brew, I'm sure more time will change its profile.

But to be able to make a beer from such small amounts of grain, rice and corn flakes ( yes the breakfast grains, tesco value) and it to be drinkable after a few days, I'm V pleased and expect the Safale US-05 makes it clean and dry, my other Brewers Gold (GOLD-SMIFF) brew will help me understand realy how dry the yeast makes the brew.
