If I were to use the slurry, is it just a case of running the wort straight on to it? Also, if the slurry is unprotected (i.e. the beer it has fermented has been racked) how long will it last for in the FV?
I didn't use the whole cake, I think I used about 600ml slurry for 45 L? I'll double check that.

I would take the slurry out of the FV and store it in a jar in the fridge, then just throw it into the next batch, should be alright for up to two weeks. Sooner you use it the better.

Tested my alkalinity this morning and it's down at about 18ppm so no acid treatment. It was literally about a drop and a half of the KH reagent in the Salifert kit before it turned pink.

Good luck with that, recipe looks great! Do you think you'll taste any of the amarillo?

Be sure to keep us updated, there are a few of us doing bo pils's at the moment it seems.
Mine should be ready to keg in a week or so..

PDTNC the saaz are from Craftbrewer Austrailia. I would have got them from BB if he had them in when I ordered them. The plastic dongles are quick disconnects.

Amarillo... haven't decided if i'm going to use them yet. Think i'll just go with the Bravo.

Doofers and dongles.

That would be a good name for beer.

My Bravo smelled quite C-Hoppy, I thought. :|

Yeah probably, I just want the alphas from it, I'm just using 45g at 60mins so it won't take over the beer. Obviously if I had some noble hops in i'd use them. The Amarillos are just a bit cheesy.

Looking good there.

I was watching you chasing the hop clump around in the vid thinking "bloody hell man, just squish it against the side of the boiler"....

Yeah I use a March pump, helps chill it a bit quicker
"bloody hell man, just squish it against the side of the boiler"
Yeah, you just need to moisten it in the wort a bit

Curiosity has gotten the better of me and I've just nipped out to the garage and opened a sample of my Bavarian Pilsner.
And life is good! Still needs a few more weeks conditioning but its my first AG lager and definitley the best lager I've made.
Was only saying this morning that I probably wouldn't bother with lager again as I don't have a fridge to cold condtion properly in. This has definitely changed my mind though. Worth the wait? Oh yes.Must be more patient!!!
