Somebody stop me.......

Post by SteveD » Fri Jan 19, 2007 8:14 pm

Inspired by the good people of this forum I've gone on a spend.....I need help.

The other day it was a 100L steel pot for conversion to big boiler...eBay
Today it was a 33L version of the same pot - same as Jim's. Later in the day I aquired a triple CO2 regulator from Norman.

I had to firmly stamp on the brakes over a plate chiller....later, later.

There is a bit of method in all the madness. Triple Reg, well, it's nice. Different kegs, different pressures. The two boilers are for when I attempt big mashes and sparge two different strength beers from the same mash, like in the old days. The strong smaller batch will boil in the 33L to make say 3-5gals, and the large weaker batch will boil in the 100L pot.

Next up...propane burners, propane and CO2 cylinders

All this aquisition and the yet the shed still needs 'making fit for the purpose'.

Cheers,

I have a feeling we are the wrong people to calm your shiny spending urges

Saying no when your trying to purge your bank account of all its contents means your a stronger man than I am

Oh the perils of being self employed denying yourself stuff through the year because you need to invest in the business and pay bills. and then you have a few great months were you all but kill yourself and then its SPENDING time.

That's exactly it, nail on the head. I'm self employed, had a good 2-3months, and now the only thing stopping me going brewhouse bonkers is the tax bill looming at the end of the month.

I've been brewing 5 gals with plastic buckets for 20 years and haven't updated the gear in about 10 years, brewing in solitary confinement. I join this forum and within a few weeks.....mayhem and shiny metal! You b@stards! But it's niiiiice

It's all about man-toys
My own argument is that it doesn't matter how much it costs as long as it gets well used.

I absolutely agree Frothy. Shame my wife doesn't see it that way. I find persistance normally pays dividends though

My toy box is overflowing at the moment. I'll probably have to start thinning it out soon.
