Looks good, im gonna do pretty much the same brew in a couple of days except replacing Northern brewer with Challenger

ask a stupid question, but I do keep wondering... what does SNPA stand for?? PA = Pale Ale I guess.

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
Also I have 100g of Cascade in the freezer, think I might do something similair to this at some point. Let us know how it turns out, remember: Bottle it to retain the hoppy goodness.

Yeah, I'm going to bottle condition this one in 330 ml bottles. This recipe doesn't keg particularly well unless you drink it fast.Bottle it to retain the hoppy goodness.
Used some top crop yeast and it's churning away happily now. Going to get another brew on Tuesday I think

Can you keep the hop flavour by bottling from keg with force carbed, clear beer? or does it have to be bottle conditioned straight from the FV?

No idea, I keg everything, it's just a theory that bottle conditioning might preserve a bit more hop character.

Ah right, ill give that a go and if I lose hop flavour in the keg, bust out a bottle and see if it has retained it.

Yeah in reality I get around 73, still not terribly high but I stop the sparge early (runnings at 1.020), also lose a fair bit due to hop absorption. I prefer to have a bit too much wort than too little.

Well if any of us get together on the 24th like Eric the guy who is orginising the beer thing is suggesting, you can see if the beers I bring have retained their hoppiness.

I bought three bottles of 'SNPA' yesterday, they're gone. I'm massively pleased to see a recipe here, hows it going?
Its a definite queue jumping brew for me, as soon as the cascade are here its first up.

I have one bottle left, I thought it was very similar in character to SNPA. Mine was slightly lighter in colour. I doubt I would change the recipe though as it vanished in no time. I'm going to do a side by side at the weekend. The key is a large amount of Cascade post boil and the clean US ale yeast.

I bet you are going to find out that yours actually has better malt flavor than the Chico version. I am pretty sure they are using American pale ale malt which is just not as flavorful as Marris Otter.Yours should have a slight nutty flavor that you just can't get with our domestic malt. For whatever it's worth, I suspect your version tastes better because of it.
I have a question about kegging vs bottle conditioning as far as hop flavor and aroma goes. Of course Sierra Nevada is bottle conditioned although we see it kegged all the time over here as well and I never noticed a difference. I always looked at kegs like nothing more than big bottles, what is your theory concerning hops and bottle conditioning vs kegging (I guess I am just too slow to figure it out myself)? By the way, have you guys had a chance to try Sierra Nevada Torpedo, it's pretty aggressive tasting stuff. Also, they just started selling Keller Weiss, I think a really good heffe the way our buddies in Germany do it.
