from extract to mash recipes

Post by stee41 » Sat Apr 03, 2010 3:48 am

Hi all,

ok, I have made extract recipes on and off for years now and I am ready to move on to either partial or full mash recipes depending on how complicated they are to make.

So, I am after fairly easy to follow recipes that are recommended by the forum members and are suitable for the uninitiated.

I will be using Cornie kegs and King Kegs, I have pint bottles but I am really pushed for time these days so unless bottles are a neccessity it will be kegs.

I tend to go for the following type of ales, not in the order displayed....

Hobgoblin
John Smiths
Banks Bitter
Theaxston BB
Beamish stout

Thanks all........ :D

I'd recommend Graham Wheeler's book "Brew yer Own British Real Ales" which has a massive recipe section covering the styles you outline in your post.

Have a good look through 'Brewdays' on the forum, lots of pictures showing the process happening :)
Some good Youtube vids here http://www.youtube.com/user/jimmythebrewer#p/u which shows pretty well how easy things are.
