... also, just to add, doesn't matter what "end" you put the gate, theres a pressure in the pump, either starvation or back.

Which pump did you get leewink? The one with or without the Threaded connections?

with threaded chap, then grabbed some connectors from ebay, like tap barbed ones ... hosetails thats it :)

connected a 12mm od one to the inlet and that to the mash tuns one, the exiting, I used one of the ones in the kit 20/20, and used syphon tube, this basically is laid into the top of the mashtun through a small tray with holes in it to break the flow.

cheers... maybe cheap enough to buy and not use for a while 'til I have a real purpose for it :D
I might even put it to use as a HLT stirrer so my temp control works better :)

*edit: ordered

Just finished up a brewday with the new pump, had abit trouble at first,I was getting over exited with the flow rate and coursed the mash to block up,(I've never used a pump befor) nothing major though, the pump worked great for re circulating the mash but my tubing was letting me down,it doesn't cope well with the high temp and gos all floppy, it did leave alot of liquid in te mash tun, more then I was expecting, I used it to empty the boiler also,my piping was ok this time, again alot of wort was left in the boiler,

a cracking little pump!

Yep, 2nd AG brew with it now, no probs, circulate everything :) the mash and both sparges, cracking job if i may say so myself :)

I also stir the sparges and just turn it on with no settling, all the bits and crud just circulate, wash outs easy too, just dump both lines in a jug of steriliser and pump it, then in water to rinse, how simple :)

Remember, for 20 odd quid, you can wreck a good few before you get to the cost of a "proper" market hyped pump :)

.... also, as far as softening pipes go, just prop the pump up so theres a relatively straight run, mine goes squishy too, i just place the pump to suit.

Guy said he would put a 12 month warentee on it assuming that it had not been abused.

Also I am buying some silicone tube from him as they will not be so impacted by the heat. The are food grade too.

Woot bring on pay day.
