TO MUCH CRS

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

TO MUCH CRS

Post by fisherman » Wed Jul 28, 2010 5:23 pm

Hi lads,
What are the problems with adding to much ( double the amount of CRS to my brewing liqour) will it affect the flavour of the malt and hops. And how will it affect the finished beer. Also do you think it pays to drop beer for a time before bottling and how long should I drop for.
Cheers

You'll taste it. I foolishly set my calculations by the water board's website figures which give averages. I can taste the CRS in mine, won't be adding it again without testing the alkalinity myself before I brew.

I wouldn't drop your beer, it's a real waste and will make a mess.

Sorry, couldn't resist it. I'm on holiday and probably drank way too much.
