3900grams pale malt
490grams roast barley
490grams flaked barley
100grams chocolate malt
100grams black malt
200grams torriefied wheat
yeast s04?
what about this stout recipe? anygood
Re: what about this stout recipe? anygood
I would say double or triple the flaked barley and lose the torri. You don't really need the black (it will already be black as night) but it won't do any harm.
Hops?

I'd go with what davo-o said. I take it this is for a 23L batch? 4.5% ABV?
I'd also maybe go for a touch of crystal or maybe amber, say 4-5%, to add some character. That's just my preference in a stout though!
Cheers

I'd up the flaked barley and add some carafa III, the black is not needed at all. the flaked barley makes the brew smooth and the carafa makes the taste complex:)

Fair enough matey! sometimes the user uppers turn out to be corkers!alfie09 wrote:was goin for 19 litres 5.4-5.5 percent?

The large amount of black malt may need some time to smooth out taste wise! I find it quite acrid! What hoppage do you plan on using? I've made a fair few stouts recently with all fuggles and I like it!

Re: what about this stout recipe? anygood
might cut it down to about 50grams then the black. going for target and challenger
