To get that distinctive Punk IPA taste i'd say you'd need about 500g of stomach bile, full boil, and 30g of earwax, steeped.
Sorry to be of little help!

Well it's just over-the-top bitterness with no flavour, at least to my palate.
But hey - some people like pure bitterness so fair enough. It's certainly a distinctive beer.

I understand your point; I can't get enough of it at the moment, but SHMBO thinks it's foul.
I'm going to try and create something along Punk lines this weekend.....subject to weather.
Punk can be quite an inconsitient beer.....I've had different carbonation levels in different batches and I would certainly agree with others who have commented that the hop regimen changes due to availability of some of the hops they use.
There are a couple of threads somewhere on here discussing a Punk clone.....sorry I don't have the links to hand. They are worth a read through to get a general feel for where to head with a recipe. Member 'mysterio', has brewed something Punkish IIRC.
I'll post the recipe I am going to use when I get home tonight as I don't have it here.
I am going to substitute out the chinook additions for some amarillo.....partly to try and smooth the rough(ish) chinook edges, partly because I have a few beers kicking around with chinook in, and partly because I really like amarillo and I think it will go well with the other hops I have chosen.

I'm doing this on Saturday....hopefully it will be in a similar syle.....it's losely based on mysterios recipe here: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=39526
Some debate on the late hops....some say Nelson Sauvin....but I don't have any of those. As said earlier, I'm subbing the chinnok for Amarillo and taking a slightly longer boil with a small initial addition at 90 mins....I might put those in as FWH.
Not sure on yeast yet.....Nottingham would do a job pitched big and fermented cool (14 deg?); but I am reluctant to use it given reported problems......I do have a batch in the fridge that fermented out well last time though and there are no irregular granules. I'll decide tomorrow.
This is for 23 litres, for anyone using BeerSmith or similar...don't forget to adjust your losses for all those hops
4.90 kg Lager Malt (2.0 SRM) Grain 91.59 %
0.35 kg Caramel/Crystal Malt - 40L (40.0 SRM) Grain 6.54 %
0.10 kg Cara-Pils/Dextrine (2.0 SRM) Grain 1.87 %
10.00 gm Amarillo [8.90 %] (90 min) Hops 9.1 IBU
20.00 gm Amarillo [8.90 %] (60 min) Hops 17.0 IBU

Re: suggestions for Brewdog IPA
Hi folks try a search for the last beer I made, I just called it American IPA.
Try a search for a punk IPA recipe, we have the actual recipe from the brewery posted somewhere.

I believe they use Lady Gaga's tinkle as brewing liquor. That's where the flavour comes from.

heh heh heh!
anyone tried to do a brewdog brew? Pucker up now!
Re: suggestions for Brewdog IPA
I brewed my above recipe on 12/3. Yesterday I racked to a secondary.
Fermentation was a little longer than planned.....I used 30g of Nottingham at 15 degrees.
The taste is incredibly bitter at the moment and I could taste the Citra in there for the rest of the day; it is going to need a week/10 days in the secondary and then a month or so in bottles or a keg.
It was quite Punkish though......promising
