salifert kit
salifert kit
Hi all, has anyone bought a new kit lately? mine arrived fri did a test as per instructions 4 drops of KH-ind to 4 ml of water and it went off the scale,ie used all 1ml of reagent with no colour change, asked question on another forum all answers were that they only use 2 drops of KH-ind. re tested using indicator solution using 4 drops/4ml it went off scale again re tested using 2 drops and it came out spot on,obviously printing error,or so i thought, then gets an answer from another member saying he uses 4 drops/4ml using indicator solution and comes up spot on.any ideas anyone
ps my kit says it is november 2010 version and more accurate than previous kits. now totally confused.

Re: salifert kit
I've always used 4ml of water and 2 drops of indicator; my kit is several months old though so things may have changed - the destructions say its a version first introduced in feb/march 2008 so could be an older one. I'd susect that if the check solution works perfectly with the old instructions then the chances are that there has been some mismatch or printing error at the supplier but thats just a supicion.

Re: salifert kit
I have the november 2010 kit and I used the 4ml and 4 drops test and it came out fine - I think
But you have me worried now and I am going to recheck a sample.
Step 1 of the instructions give the option of using 4ml of water or 2ml for a lower resolution test
Step 2 then says to add 4 drops of the KH-Ind or 2 drops for the lower resolution mode.
I don't quite understand the lower resolution mode. If you use 2ml water and 2 drops of KH-Ind then surely the solution has the same concentration as the 4ml with 4 drops - it is just half the volume??

Re: salifert kit
hi jim, i believe the older instructions call for 2 drops/4ml water, test yours as per your instructions using check solution, i have been told from another poster that hes is fine using new ins,ie 4 drops/4l water, i think my kit has got wrong KH-ind or KH solution.
Re: salifert kit
Hi johnluc, I just tested using 4 drops/4ml of the test solution and it is spot on so all good here.

Re: salifert kit
jim would you do me a favour and tell me the numbers on your bottles please was told by another poster he has the same kit as me but hes Nos are different to mine.
my numbers are;
KH-ind = PA1000212
KH = PA1001061
check solution = PA1006303

Re: salifert kit
Mine are:
KH-ind = batch: 0311-A
KH = batch: 0311-B
check solution = T0211-A (best before Feb 2014)
Hope that helps.
