Refurbing Handpumps

Post by The Fat Jedi » Sun Jul 10, 2011 3:13 pm

New to the forum so not sure I'm putting this in the right place...

I have a couple of handpumps which I use fairly regularly. I wanted to refurb them as they are beginning to fob the beer on dispense. I'm presuming I'm going to need to replace seals etc and was wondering a couple of things...

1) How easy is it to service them yourself (I'm fairly hopeless at DIY :? )
2) Where can I buy all the requisite seals and valves I'm likely to need?

Any and all help and advice gratefully received! :D

Hi.
I refurbed mine and providing you are methodical about where you put everything as you dismantle you should be able to DIY as there's not usually a lot to them inside.
Mine didn't have a lot on the outside that identified what it was so I took some photo's and e-mailed them to Colin Farrah's brewery services and they quickly answered and supplied the correct seal kit and is now working fine.
I think beerengines.com is a similar service.

Welcome to Jims - don't worry about posting in the wrong place - it's the right place BTW IMHO.

Jim's is a pretty relaxed board - not like other forums!!!

Another recommendation for Colin Farrah. They deciphered a drawing I sent them and helped me out, even though they were not going to benefit from their guidance.

Thanks for the advice all! Colin Farrar it is. I'll drop them a line and see what happens.

Cheers.
