I was at a party at the weekend and I overheard a conversation where Estrelle Damm Inedit was being discussed. Its being served at Nutters Restaurant in Rochdale at £12.00 for a 750ml bottle. Essentially they are serving this in wine glasses from wine size bottles.
When I read the mini pamphlet that adorns the bottle which had been taken home by my friend it became evident that this beer was just using the old classic wheat beer flavourings, coriander and orange.
Does anyone know more about this beer. Is it as nice as he says? And has anyone got anywhere with unlocking the possible secret to a clone recipe?

Re: Estrella Damm Inedit
From what i can find on the internet, it's a pretty standard wit except for an addition of liquorice root.
Oh, and lots of hype, bullshit and stupid pricing! Unless a 4.8% "Belgian" Wit made in Barcelona which is generally regarded as average tasting is now worth wine prices.

Re: Estrella Damm Inedit
I haven't tried the "Inedit" version but I really like the standard Estrella Damm lager.
I have to visit Barcelona a lot for work so I have developed a real taste for it.
I find it amazing to see that a standard session lager is being marketed here like a premium special beer. Served from frosted pumps in flashy glasses.
It reminds me of the Mitchell and Webb sketch that takes place in the marketing dept of a toothbrush manufacturer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwhlqRJ8LVA

Re: Estrella Damm Inedit
We bought a couple of bottles back last year. For the 5 or 6 euros a bottle we paid at the airport, we thought it was pretty good and I'd drink it again. But for £12 a bottle, I'd rather have something else. Even in a restaurant I'd have said it was rather expensive for what's basically around 1.5 pints of beer.

Some mates of mine brought me back a bottle from Spain a few months ago, I have to say that I thought it was horrid.
£12 a bottle is a f**king joke for a trumped up witbier.
