Re: Cheap'n'Easy Light Wit (Hoegaarden-ish)
hi guys- going to do this one for my first AG. Feel comfortable with the theory of AG, but wanted to make sure I was buying the correct type of malts etc. what do you think:
2kg lager malt http://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/index.ph ... oductId=19
the flaked (unmalted) wheat is out of stock at maltmiller- any suggested replacements?
whcih kind of wheat malt?
are whole hops ok for saaz? http://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/index.ph ... oductId=12
is this the right bobek? http://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/index.ph ... roductId=8
just a bit concerned about getting the right stuff
thanks for your help

Can't really go too far wrong with lager malt.
>the flaked (unmalted) wheat is out of stock at maltmiller- any suggested replacements?
If you want a light Wit, it will have to be flaked wheat. You might be able to find it at a health shop.
>whcih kind of wheat malt?
Bog standard stuff.
>are whole hops ok for saaz? http://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/index.ph ... oductId=12
Yes but those are very expensive.

Yes, but expensive.
Try worcesterhopshop. You will get those hops at a much better price.

Fermentis WB-06 works well as does T58, S33 us05 I have even done it with WLP022 never a bad drinker, go set a new standard and mix it up a bit

Re: Cheap'n'Easy Light Wit (Hoegaarden-ish)
WB06 or Danstar Munich work fine. Most liquid wheat beer yeasts probably would too. Hoey doesn't have much of a yeast character so it's not too important IMO.
Re: Cheap'n'Easy Light Wit (Hoegaarden-ish)
For the wheatflakes- do I want toasted or not toasted?
thanks
