Re: Electric Brewery Build UK Version
Another few thoughts have occurred to me of possible additions to the rig.
I thought of the idea after reading the EB manual again and JabbA thread regarding his New Kegerator Build
and Kevs post on that thread
Now what if a flow meter of some sort was added to the set up to actually measure the volume of liquid, either as a vision aid or in combination with the pump to measure a pre determined amount of liquid.
Anyone had similar thoughts?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-2-LCD-Water ... 5d3374cc9c perhaps?

Here goes the EB build has a water pump, dual purpose to circulate the water whilst heating (avoiding cold spots) and to pump the strike water into the MLT. The way I measure water volume at the moment is via a slight galss on the HLTKev888 wrote:Nice job!
If its of interest, I happened across an ebayer selling a flow meters and and stock-control systems a while ago here. I haven't investigated any further (my wish list is already far too long), but the method could be useful if weighing the kegs is awkward. Not really sure how well they'd work with carbonated beer and very slow dispense rates, but presumably he's tested them.
Cheers,
Kev

WHOOPS good job i asked then .... something was bugging me about the idea.. i could split the ssrs into 2 mutually exclusive sets so that no more than one from each set is run feeding each set by its own 13amp feedthemadhippy wrote:do you plan on each feed supplying a seprate outlet,if yes then no problem,if however you intend joining the supplys together to increase the current, stop right now,in my industry such ideas are knowen as widow makers.i am planning of fitting 2 16amp euro sockets which will be connected inside to a common junction box from which power switched by ssrs will be distributed, which will again be fed from 2 ring main extentions. No more than 2 ssrs feeding kettle elements wil be on at any one time..
Barney you beat me to it,just been informes vandam (vdc) have em in stock
or consider a 32a feed, 40-50 quid in materials plus a sparkys fee to wire up the consumer box hmmmmm
ist update for months n months..

The last thing on my shopping list is to buy a decent crimping tool, the one I have is woefully inadequate. Anyone recommend a good one for under £30.00?
Cheers

That looks good for the price.
I bought a couple of super cheap crimpers that were totally crap before I got this also cheap one which does the job ok.

I'm sure with a budget of £30 you'll get a pretty decent one.

I think after doing a bit of research I`m going for these Draper ones http://www.shacktoolshop.com/draper-599 ... -4706.html
Anything has got to be better than my non ratchet pair I have at the moment.
Ebay seems to be full of cheaper ratchet versions which for the money seems good value and having followed your link to the version you have they look very similar, slightly different materials used.
Mmmmmmm
Cheers

I've got a pair of crimpers like them and they are very good. Mine must be coming up for around 12 years old and still going strong. Used them for many years as part of my job and never warned them out!

Re: Electric Brewery Build UK Version
I've finally remembered to take a pic of my poor man's electric brewery controller!
After reading what you want to built i am very jelious and now are thinking of upgrade i can do! however i do say this very simple unit has served me well and done 20 brews and made things much easier.
I have also installed a 32A supply to my shed to run everything safely off.

It still looks a nice set up thoughJonoT wrote:I've finally remembered to take a pic of my poor man's electric brewery controller!

My existing setup is just a few sockets and nothing else, so very much basic.
Having looked through all the other electric brewery threads I thought what the hell just go for the biggest design I could afford, thus cutting out the intermediate stage and actually saving money

Most of the bits are now slowly making their way from China or Hong Kong, all ordered separately to avoid any other charges
Plus - have now ditched the idea of using the "ammo box" to mount the components in, having now secured a stainless IP65 box, measuring in at a whopping 600mm square x 210 deep, so loads of mounting room + space for any future upgrades.
The new Draper expert crimpers work very well and are very sturdy to use.
Cant wait to get started.

Label Maker
I want to get some 27 labels made for the panel, apart from engraved trophy labels and the dreaded dymo embossed label maker, anyone one know of any lable makers giving the same appearance of these ones http://theelectricbrewery.com/control-p ... -1?page=14
Cheers
