I brewed a Royal Oak based on Dave Line's recipe a couple of months ago. I haven't got my brewing notes to hand just now but the main difference was that I used half white cane sugar and half demerera sugar, otherwise it was about the same. It worked out well and I intend to repeat it at some point. Good look with your brew CK!

I used to brew Dave Line's Royal Oak recipe regularly in the 1980s. Not only were the results very consistent but they tasted very similar to the real thing in my opinion.

On the other hand, I also brewed Abbott Ale many times and it was always different (but usually good) and only once close to the real thing.

I have no idea why these two recipes performed so differently for me.

Cheers, Les

if I had to eat only one type of food for the rest of my life it would be curry , no contest . its the perfect partner to beer I reckon , although a full roast comes second .

I overdid it on roast when i lived with my mum. I spent a couple of weeks in india for christmas, and i learned more about indian food in those two weeks than i have in my whole life.

It's worth the trip.

Reasonaby experienced travel wise, so didn't get sick once. Chana daal and puffy naan.
