Welcome mate! Always nice to have new people and with an intro like that certainly speaks volumes!Swift Tag wrote:Hi, I'm Steve and I own Swift Tag, just a quick post to say thanks to barneey for the kind words and if I can be of help to anyone please feel free to contact me.
I am a bitter drinker and have made homebrew in the past albeit from kits. So thanks for reviving an old interest, must get the brewkit out of the loft!!!!
Had a look around the site, what a fantastic goldmine of information and experience.
I hope this isn't taken as spam posting, just a heartfelt thank you.
Cheers all

Re: Electric Brewery Build UK Version
Had a bit of spare time today so have now fitted all the front panel components, ready for the great wiring job inside.
Still have to cut a few holes in the cabinet case itself for various inlets / outlets --- didnt want to cut them just yet incase I needed to change anything.
Again still need to fit the labels but will leave that as the last job.
If theres any sparkys near the East Kent region I could do with a motivational hand
Progress for today....

Wow that looks really impressive barneey!
What do you have controlling all the buttons etc. a microcontroller or something?
Do you plan to label the buttons, theres so many I'd forget what they each do.

Its based on the Electric Brewery Build, so just relay contacts controlling the majority of the stuff, as for the labels they are on the previous page. Operation wise its 4 PIDs (HLT, Mash, HERMS, Boiler / Fermenter) 1 Timer, 4 variable solar pump supplies, Element control (2 Boiler - 1 of which is variable, 1 HLT, 1 HERMS), just have to workout if I can fit (or need) a flow meter. A bit OTT but I`m only planning and building this thing once, no mark 2s

I've seen this in the flesh pre-installation of the lighting-up bits, and so it's great to see it in this state.
Great work, I say, not that it needs saying!

Re: Electric Brewery Build UK Version
You not tempted to make something a bit like this trouble? I reckon there would be one hell of a market for a simple one that did HLT auto timer/temp, 2 switches for pumps and a switch for a boiler on/off.
Re: Electric Brewery Build UK Version
TBH, DK, the costs are astronomical for this scale of work. Even just doing the market research/marketing costs put a project out of reach for an operation like mine. Honestly, it's tough enough producing simple STC units. But it totally looks very tempting, and I have considered it. It's aways the damned costs, isn't it? And someone has to pay. I've seen this one, as I say, and I have seen the skill that Barney has put into it. It's a big project. Each one is unique in someway. But that's hand-made stuff for you.
I don't discard the idea, however, one never knows how the wind might blow from one year to the next.

Cheers,
4 PIDs (HLT, Mash, HERMS, Boiler to Fermenter) + 1 Timer, should be future proof enough + see my previous post above for the rest of the control bits.
