What coupler is that?

Re: Kegs arrived, 30l
The 5p trick does not work on all kegs but if you put a spile or bit of dowel into the bottom of your coupler

like this and just keep cutting it down bit by bit until it releases the spear

I think I have sussed this photo malarkey out so here is a few more picks
http://s1288.photobucket.com/user/jaq14 ... sort=3&o=2
this is a proper spear extraction tool I also have a special keg coupler with a stainless steel funnel for filling the kegs with.
This pick is how to make up a degasser.
http://s1288.photobucket.com/user/jaq14 ... sort=3&o=3
and last the tool for un doing the spear.

The coupler is just a standard "s" type coupler with a couple of new JG fittings on it (including the non return gas), the only reason for the removeal in the video was to show there wasnt any gas in the keg. The socket was the one i made from the Halford socket.

Well there's some real butchers around removing spears, that video is cringworthy.
Good vid of how to take it out clive, but like someone mentioned I dont think it works on all types of safety clip.
Maybe if I'm not busy this winter I could get some tools made which may encourage more people to move over to the traditional keg route.

Re: Kegs arrived, 30l

I`ll post a picture of the bastard one later on but as I said I`ve only seen 3 different one there may be more out there.
Cheers
+1 the other vid is cringeworthy unless your only intention is to remove the spear and throw it.

Re: Kegs arrived, 30l
Just to add to the knowledge data base, here are a couple of photos of the bastard spear I have, (I`ve only taken it to bits to see how the thing is engineered) showing the position of the clip and what it looks like. The only way do do these kegs is to push down the central part of the coupler - insert screwdriver and hunt around for it.

Jaq On the bastard one(s) you have seen, has the clip been directly underneath the "S" tab (see photo above)? I hope never to see another but it would be very useful to know where to hunt.
Cheers

Re: Kegs arrived, 30l
Good knowledge on these kegs Clive, so assuming you get one of the bastard spears do you think my tool would remove it. The tool basically applies as much pressure as you want on the centre bearing.
